Q.1 : What is Teletext? How can I receive Text channels? What is the cost of receiving these channels?

Ans: Teletext is a text-based signal which is encrypted in a terrestrial signal like Shalimar Information System or Satellite signals like PTV Text, MBCT Text or CNN Text. On these channels there are many informative programs like Stock Exchange rates, new updates, sports news, business news, weather news, flight information etc. All you have to do is either purchase a teletext decoder, which is available at an approximate cost of Rs. 2000/- or purchase a Teletext TV manufactured by Philips, Sony etc.

Q.2 : I have a problem with my satellite system. During daytime the signal quality is quite good but at night the signal is quite bd. Please advise what should I do?

Ans: Please get your coaxial cable replaced because during daytime the temperature is quite high while at night the temperature is quite low. This variation causes loss of quality of the cable. You should get your cable replaced & get your cable checked every six months.

Q.3 : I have a Winersat WR-912 receiver with a 6ft. Mesh dish. 6 month back my reception of PAS-4 channels was OK, but now the pictures are turning grainy, the red & blue colors have sparkles & sometimes the audio is not audible. So advice me the most suitable twin LNBF for reception of both Sony & Home TV channels. Can a polarizer be attached to a twin LNB and what is a dielectric plate with a polarotor. Remember, that my dish is in very good shape?

Ans: First of all a 6ft, mesh dish is not good enough to view all channels of Panamsat-4. You need to have at least an 8ft. solid dish to view all these cannels. You can’t attach a polarizer with a twin LNB. Dielectric plate is used to separate the Left & Right Hand Circular Polarization.

Q.4 : Is there any way to watch the Discovery Channel and what is B-Mac?

Ans: You can get the discovery channel via M-net on Digital service for Africa which they are transmitting through Panamsat but this service is subscription based and the card and receiver is available in Karachi. B-Mac is an analog encryption technique.

Q.5 : I have a problem with my satellite system.
