Test Report for Digital Telecom Digital +2

Digital Telecom Digital +2

Viewers are aware of the fact that analogue transmissions will come to an end in 2009 worldwide and it will be hold by digital signals. Such technology promises super-sharp pictures and better sound. The plan also would allocate as much as $1.5 billion for a “converter box” programme to help people with older, analogue TV sets that would lose their signal in the digital era. Consumer advocates say that is not enough money. Consumers who have newer TV sets capable of receiving digital signals would not notice a change when the switch is made in 2009, nor should satellite television viewers and the roughly 26 million households with digital cable. For receiving digital signals, there are unlimited set top boxes in the market and Digital Telecom Digital+2 is top of them.

The front panel of Digital+2 is simple. One can see there five buttons for different functions of the box. There is also a Smart Card Slot on the right side of the box for access to Pay channels. The rear panel of the receiver is equipped with two scart connectors, programmable 12 volt out put, serial interface RS 232 for updating a new receiver software and IF out put. The remote control supplied with the box leaves nothing to say behind.

The TV scart connector delivers the TV signals in CVBS format. Digital+2 do not ask for a password for every menu. All the menus are designed attractively.

With Easy Search, you have the possibility to detect the focused satellite and their LNB connecting-port of the DiSEqC. This means that with function the receiver would search the satellite and detect to which port their connected. In order to get more signals, set up the antenna to get the proper signal and then search the channels. After selecting all parameters and language setting, the user enters in the Installation menu. Here you will first select your desired satellite. There will be a complete list of satellites on your screen. There is also a multisatellite search option in this box, where you can scan more than one satellite without any hurdle.

After two minutes and 15 seconds, 1280 TV and 544 Radio channels were searched. It was one of the fastest searches as expected. One should decide if one satellite, one transponder, network and FTA or All channels should be searched for. Quite surprising is its ability to handle SCPC and MCPC signals.
