Samsat FTA 300

The world satellite market is equipped with different kind of satellite receivers. Some of them are used for access to pay channels, while the rest of receivers are used for watching free to air (FTA) channels. One of such receiver at our test center is Samsat FTA 300.

The front panel of Samsat FTA 300 is designed simply. The window display is situated in the middle of the box, designed in a curved shape, which shows the current channel number and time in a stand by mode. There are total seven buttons located on the front panel for access to various functions of the box. The rear panel of Samsat FTA 300 is designed like other free to air receivers. One can find here a TV scart connector, IF output, Serial Interface RS-232 for uploading a new receiver software, programmable 12-volt output and a main power switch for turning on and off the receiver completely. The remote control supplied with the box has an easy access to all the command functions.

Samsat FTA 300 has the capacity to store 4000 TV and Radio channels. It comes preprogrammed with unlimited updated satellites from worldwide. It supports DiSEqC 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 protocols. All the local oscillator frequencies for C and Ku-band are preprogrammed. The user can communicate with the receiver in English, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish, Polish, Hungary, Russian, Arabic, Farsi, Denmark and Greece languages

There are two kinds of searching channels in Samsat FTA 300 Receiver. The first one is Single Search and the second one is Multi Search. In the Single Search option, one can search a single satellite. Here the users also have an option for FTA or all channels search. While in a Multi Search Option, the users have an option to go for search than one satellite. Samsat will never disappoint you in searching channels. We find 935 TV and 512 Radio channels in 4 minutes and 50 seconds. As soon as the search is completed, the receiver goes on the first channel found. The search channels can be edit, rename, sort and moved to one of the eight favourite lists for easy recall later time.

By pressing the OK button, the channel list will appear on your screen. The current onscreen channel is minimized on the right side then. The channel list does not disappear automatically, you will have to press the exit button to say bye to it. The EPG system of Samsat is designed attractively. It gives users informations about the actual programmes of certain channels like event name, subtitle, and description, start and finish time. This feature is depending on the service of the channel provider. Kids may be kept away from adult channels through parental control function. The receiver switches automatically between PAL and NTSC. On pressing the info button, it shows all complete informations about the onscreen channel. The dynamic bars at the bottom of the window reflect the signal intensity and signal quality of the current channel.

Symbolrates starting at the rate of 2.45ma/sec were processed easily during our test. Samsat FTA 300 also supports the multipicture display function. During this process, the screen is divided in 4, 9,12 and 16 pictures. As soon as the screen is completed, the first channel goes on. With pressing the OK button, you will return to full screen mode in the marked channel. The receiver also supports the Teletext function. If the channel does not support Teletext information, it will show “ No Teletext Data” on the screen. If you are feeling bore and there is nothing interesting to watch, Samsat also care their customers and have provided different videogames.
