Satellite TV works by broadcasting video and audio signals from geostationary satellites to satellite dishes on the Earth's surface. These geostationary satellites orbit the earth in a region of space known as the Clarke Belt, which is approximately 22,300 miles above the equator. The front panel of The Lawrence LT 7000D-X5 is very positively designed. Seven buttons are located there for multiple purposes of this attractive box. The front panel window display has covered the most part of the receiver. The four digit green display shows the current channel number and time in a stand by mode. The Lawrence LT 7000D-X5 has enough capacity to store 4000 TV and Radio channels. It comes preprogrammed with 64 updated satellites from worldwide. The receiver supports DiSEqC 1.2. All the local oscillator frequencies for C and Ku-band are preprogrammed.

The initial installation of the Lawrence LT 7000D-X5 does not pose any problems. Contrary to many competitors' receivers, the Lawrence LT 7000D-X5 does not show a welcome screen asking you to select your preferred language before anything else, but starts with the main menu. The installation menu may look confusing when you are using the receiver for the first time. The Search Channel function is a convenient tool to search multi-satellite in one time. When pressed the OK button, the satellite will be chosen.

This receiver allows choosing and scanning several satellites one time, in one page operation. After all wanted satellites have been chosen, simply press a key to scan all chosen satellites one by one. The scanning process was up to our expectations. 1003 TV and 476 Radio channels were found in 5 minutes. Before the channels search, you may decide to find FTA or only scrambled channels. After successful completion of channel searching, move to TV channels or Radio channels on main menu to select currently received channels. Then you should select here to watch the channel you want.

LT 7000D-X5 is locking the position when you are moving the dish looking for satellite. You may easily search a satellite and channel by alphabet. All menus are very user-friendly. This box has many unique features for new generation. All components are good very known brand name such as Thompson, sharp, Intel.

The channel list is one of the most interesting features of the Lawrence LT 7000D-X5. The channel list doest not disappear automatically, you will have to press the Exit button. The channels may be arrange, delete, sort and moved to the favourite list, containing the channels you want to watch frequently. You may put your favourite satellites in a separate list. The EPG has a smart design and loads the required information reasonably fast. Children may be keep away from adult channels through parental control function. The receiver switches automatically between PAL and NTSC. The receiver also supports Teletext services. During our tests we did not come across any problems regarding symbolrates starting at the rate of 2.45ms/sec. Very especially after excessive use is the fast channel switching.
