Echolink EL-5000 HDD

A personal video recorder has a hard drive in it just like your home computer. As you are watching a programme, the personal video recorder records the programme onto its hard drive. If the phone rings, the baby cries, or you just need to take a break, you can pause your programme, without missing anything. While you're away, the personal video recorder will continue recording the programme on its hard drive. When you return you simply hit play and you can continue watching your programme from where you left off. A PVR also lets you build your own TV channel. With the press of a button you can record your favourite shows every time they are on air. No more searching for a blank video tape or worrying about recording over something. One of such personal video recorder is from Echolink and named EL-5000 HDD.

The front panel of EL-5000 is designed attractively. There are total seven buttons on the front panel for access to various functions. The window display is situated in the middle of the box, which shows the current channel number and time through four digit green display. The rear panel of EL-5000 is equipped with two scart connectors, S/PDIF, Serial interface RS-232 for uploading a new receiver software, RF output, RCA jacks and a main power switch for turning on and off the receiver completely. The remote control has an easy access to all the functions of the personal video recorder.

EL-5000 HDD has the capacity to store 5000 TV and Radio channels. It supports DiSEqC 1.2 and USALS protocols. Thanks to the Dual Tuner, you can watch one programme while recording another, or enjoy picture-in-picture on any television. Compare that to the single PVR tuner offered by some satellite providers, which leaves you stuck watching what you're recording. The embedded hard disk of EL-5000 is of 80G.

All the features of the Dual Tuner PVR are available in the HD PVR. Capture all the detail and clarity of HD broadcasts, and store up to 125 hours of HD programming or 90 hours of standard broadcasts. Remember, you need an HD terminal in order to get the full benefit of your HD television.

User can scan all transponder of selected satellites in the Easy Installation Menu. Select the easy install option in the main menu and press the OK button to enter the Sub-Menus. While in the advanced Installation Menu, you can also press the red colour key on the remote control immediately to search channels for the selected satellite. You can also set the parameters for the selected satellite here.

The automatic channel scan gives you the ability to scan more than one satellite, which is a very outstanding feature of the EL-50000. This characteristics will allow you to scan a maximum satellites in maximum time. You can also select whether FTA or CAS channels should be scanned first. The scan of 983 TV and 522 Radio channels was just performed in 3 minutes and 15 seconds. It was one of the fastest scan. After the complete scanning, the receiver saves the all channels. These channels can be rename, delete, sort and moved to one of the seven favourite group lists.

If you want to record your favourite programme, press the authorized button on the remote control and a record icon will be displayed on the up left of screen. Record icon display recording number, duration and recording name. You can play a new service during single record if you have right tuner setting and no operation clash. If you switch to the channel which is recording, and press OK will enter change.
