Astrovox VSR-777 USB

From Astrovox Electronics LLC, Dubai, which has always been a market leader, introduces the new model VSR-777 USB a free to air receiver with a built in USB port and in built spectrum analyzer. A company which in the past has given superlative performance from its line of digital receivers at an affordable price. The Astrovox VSR-777 USB is a standard free to air receiver, and Astrovox claims to have been very closely involved with the design of the receiver and software to ensure the best quality and future proofing the product for software upgrades for enhanced performance.

With VSR-777, you have got memory of 6000 channels, a database of 100 satellites, many of them pre-tuned and Diseqc 1.3 controls with USALS auto location.

The VSR-777 USB is in Silver finish with a four digit green LED display in the center of the front panel. On the LED display, you can view the full status of the receiver and will show the current channel number being viewed. The control buttons are ergonomic in design and placed to allow to quickly access the channel and volume buttons

The back panel sockets, as described is pretty basic but nothing is missing, it includes AV connectors, modulator, loop thru tuner, component video - RGB with additional audio output and the RS-232 for downloading the latest software and editing channel listing. The front side of the receiver contains a USB 1.0 version port for fast and easy upload of software as described in the attached photographs. Software can be loaded from Flash drive and it takes about 10 seconds to load so the installer can carry the software to the customers site and load it thru the flash drive. Also the customer can load the software by copying the software on the last drive.

The remote control is usually an accessory on which budget manufacturers choose to cut corners. But in this case you get a comfortable light weight controller which is well labeled and has several useful extra function buttons. The VSR-777 USB receiver has a very stylish and intuitive menu three system which is very helpful to first time users.

The VSR-777 USB can communicate with the user in different languages- total 15 languages. It has an easy to use OSD with friendly icons like in PC operating systems. It has a selectable signal meter with also has a beep sound which is very helpful for the installer to align the dish to perfection. It also supports multi picture (4,9,10,12 or 16 still pictures). It also has a Audio viewer in Radio Channel and zoom in and out in TV channel.

The most critical local oscillator frequencies (LOF) for the C-band and KU-band can be directly selected. Other values can be manually entered. Every signal with symbol rates starting at 2-45 ms/sec are identified and processed making the VSR-777 USB SCPC compatible. The scan can be performed on a single satellite or on multiple satellites. Individual transponder scans are also possible. As is typical, scanning for FTA channels with or without network or all channels with or without network should be selected first before the scan is stored.

Switching between channels is fast. Detailed programming information is provided by the EPG. This assumes of course that the provider makes this information available. An additional source of information is the integrated TELE TEXT decoder. This service can thus be displayed on older TV sets or monitors that don't have a TELE TEXT decoder. The VSR-777 USB has an easy graphic menu interface. One may easily recall the memory of the channel last watched.

If more information is required on a particular signal, a double push of the info button will provide what is needed. In addition to all the relevant technical parameters and channels data, the channel's signal strength and quality are displayed in a bar graph. Bonus features include video games, which will amuse you when you will feel bored. It has an easy and fast software upgrade through RS 232C port. The installation process is very user friendly and has an excellent menu structure which is a delight to use.
