Starsat SR-X1800 USB

Started with its first product line in analog receivers, which effectively have been sold 1.5 million set worldwide. However STAR SAT in 1998 introduced it's first digital satellite receiver in many features and specification. Models of digital set-top box as Free-To-Air, common interface, embedded system, motorized or a combined system. As well there is extensive range of LNB in all its kinds and specifications actuators, cables switches and Cams. The new SR-X1800 USB receiver has just arrived at our test center. Lets play with it.

SR-1080 USB is a highly cost-effective FTA receiver. It is fully DVB-S and MPEG-2 compliant receiver. The front panel of SR-X1800 USB is designed attractively. There are total eight buttons on the front panel used for complete function on the receiver, incase the remote control is missing. The four digit green display shows the current channel number and time in a stand by mode. The rear panel will not disappoint you. It is equipped with TV Scart Connector, RS-232 for uploading a new receiver software, RCA jacks, RF out, IF loop through and a main power switch for turning on and off the receiver completely. The remote control is well-designed, large buttons having access to all function with out any trouble.

Before you can view the Television or Radio programme, you must perform the installation procedure first. Therefore you will see only Easy Installation Menu at first when you plug in your system. The Easy Installation gives you the convenience of selecting various languages, adjusting the time and channel search. The first option is the language selection. The available OSD languages are English, German, Italian, Spanish, French, Turkish, Arabic, Persian, Greek, Portuguese and Russian. Every user may select the language of his own choice. All the local oscillator frequencies for C and Ku-band are preprogrammed. The receiver supports DiSEqC 1.2 and USALS protocol.

Once the initial setup has been completed, then one can go for channel search. Its time to find the channels that you would actually watch. Here are two options for channels searching. Automatic or manual search. 1200 TV and 516 Radio channels were found in 5 minutes. It was quite a surprising channels search. It is also possible to search for frequencies with specific symbol rates. These can be added once full mode has been selected. The scanned channels can be delete, rename, sort and moved to one of the favourite list for easier recall later time.

SR-X1800 USB has the capacity to store 5000 TV and Radio channels. It comes preprogrammed with updated satellites from worldwide. The user may store 200 channels in one favourite list.

After the TV channels have been programmed, you will see the information box each time you change the channels. Every time you change channels, you will receive programme information for a few seconds. SR-X1800 USB also supports the multi video function, showing 6, 9 and 10 pictures at one time on the scree. Multiple channels will be displayed on your screen.

SR-X1800 USB can be programmed so that at a set time it switches over to a specified channel. Up to ten timer functions are possible. This function can be used, for example, to record a programme on a video cassette recorder.

Symbol rates starting at the rate of 2.45ms/sec were processed easily during our tests. Other functions include sleep and wake up timer, EPG, Calendar, Calculator and video games. The SR-X1800 USB is fairly fast and simple box.
