Test Report for TOPFIELD TF6000 F


The TF6000 F from Topfield comes in an elegant colored cabinet. The receiver is fully compliant with the international video-broadcasting standard and can play digital satellite services. On the left side of the front panel is the four-digit display used to show the current channel number as well as the current time. A total of three front panel buttons permit complete control of the receiver in case the remote control is missing. The normal functions like channel down/up and menu can also be directly selected. Since it is a free to air receiver, no flap was found on the front panel. The rear panel is very simply laid out. Three RCA jacks, RS-232 for uploading a new receiver software, video output socket for TV, RF output and LNB input. The remote control is small and sits nicely in your hand. It has any easy access to all the functions of the receiver.

TF6000 F has the capacity to store 5000 channels. The receiver has unlimited updated satellites from worldwide. The receiver supports DiSEqC 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and USALS protocol. When used on a moveable dish with a proper motor, a multi-satellite scan is possible. The receiver presents clear and stable picture even with extremely weak signals. Many of today’s local oscillator frequencies are available, even those for C-band.

After turning on this box for the first time, the Topfield asks the user what OSD language should be used. Every user should be able to find a language they can use. The next step takes you directly into the installation. Here first select the desired satellite in the installation menu. Pressing the OK button displays the satellite list, which is listed in alphabetical order. Select one of the preprogrammed satellite that corresponds to the direction of the antenna. If a desired satellite is not included in the list, then select another. You can add new satellites manually easily. Manually PID entry is also possible. The integrated DiSEqC 1.0 protocol lets you use this box with up to four different satellites.

The automatic channel scan gives you the ability to scan more than one satellite, which is a very outstanding feature of the TF6000 F. This characteristics will allow you to scan a maximum satellites in maximum time. You can also select whether FTA or CAS channels should be scanned first. The scan of 836 TV and 411 Radio channels was just performed in 3 minutes. It was one of the fastest scan. After the complete scanning, the receiver saves the all channels. These channels can be rename, delete, sort and moved to one of the available 30 favourite group lists. On the favourite list mode, four standard lists are selected as the default menus, including News, Movie, Music and Sports. Up to 30 lists including these lists can be added and renamed.

Pushing the OK button will display the channel list, while at the same time the current channel remains visible in a small window on the right side of the screen. Pressing the M1 button on the remote control pops up the multiple picture display. Choose any form you desire to view. The multipicture function is also available in the favourite list, which appears on pressing the FAV button. If you want to get the channel information, press the info button. It will show the channel number, channel name, signal level and information of subtitle and Teletext. These informations may also be obtained while switching from one channel to another.

Symbolrates starting at the rate of 1.45ms/sec may be used easily for TF6000 F. To display the information about the onscreen channel, press the Guide button on the remote control. If EPG is available on the programme, you will see the detailed description of the programme. If the broadcaster supports Teletext, you can see the Teletext symbol in the information box. The TF6000 F can deliver the TV signal in CVBS format. The automatic switching between PAL and NTSC occurs with out any delay. The channel switching time is one second. The receiver delivers firmware update and data transfer available between the same receivers. The timer function will never let you to miss your favourite programme.

The TF6000 F is an easy to use receiver that can even handle weaker signals. Video games are also included to help you during the long commercial breaks.
