Test Report for Delsat DSR 7500 Plus Digital Satellite Receiver

Delsat DSR 7500 Plus Digital Satellite Receiver

It gives me quite pleasure to see a new brand of satellite receiver every month on my desk. We gave due attention to every brand, so that our readers may get the available informations easily and select a receiver of their own choice. This time, I was happy to see a beautiful and well-advanced model of Delsat. The company has manufactured a new model DSR 7500. The receiver is convenient and allows you to view a variety of programmes provided through satellite.

DSR 7500 Plus is designed in a pretty and attractive gray color. The front panel of the receiver is designed simply. There are eight buttons on the receiver front panel used for various functions. The current channel number is shown by the four digit green display. As soon as you will open the flap on the left side of the receiver, you will come across two slots used for pay channel access.

The rear panel of DSR 7500 Plus is designed very interestingly. There are two scart connectors for TV and VCR, serial interface RS-232 for uploading new receiver software, a programmable 0/12 volt output, RCA jacks and a main power switch for turning on and off the receiver. We also found the S-VHS out put on the rear panel. The remote control has any access to all the functions of the unit. The workmanship of DSR 7500 Plus will really give a positive impression on your mind as well as thoughts.

Once you properly install and connect cables of the receiver and turn the power on, the installation wizard will be automatically displayed on your TV screen. You can start from this installation wizard, which enables the end users to set up the receiver from a factory default. In the next step, you will have to choose the language. The receiver can communicate with the user in English, Deutsch, Italian, Spanish, French, Turkish, Arabic, Russian, Portuguese, German, Nederland, Persian, Soumi and Svenska. You can set up easily all the necessary functions and settings for the DSR 7500 Plus in the main menu.

The DSR 7500 Plus comes preprogrammed with 4500 TV channels and updated worldwide 128 satellites. You may add the additional satellites easily. All the local oscillator frequencies for C –band as well as Ku-band are preprogrammed. The receiver supports DiSEqC 1.2, 1.0 and the more user-friendly USALS protocol. Unfortunately, owners of multifeed antennas will not be happy with Delsat, since this receiver does not support DiSEqC 1.1. DiSEqC 1.0 allows this receiver to be used with up to four LNBs.

There are different options for scanning. You may search the channels by Search 1 satellite, Search TP and Search by network. We select the Search 1 satellite and select the Hotbird satellite for scanning. The DSR 7500 Plus found 496 TV and 245 Radio channels in two minutes and 40 seconds. This was one of the fast scanning. After the complete scanning, the receiver first saves the channel and then turns on the first channel found. The search may be sorted for all or FTA channels only. If you want to bring the channel organization here, just go to the channel manager. Channel manager consists of TV and radio channel manager. Channels can be moved, lock, rename, delete, sort or changed to one of the eight favourite lists for easier recall later time.

Pressing the OK button brings the channel list. It is designed very clearly. The channel list may be arranged according to all, favourite, satellite, A-Z and CAS. The receiver provides Electronic Programme Guide to get access to the TV guide, which will give the titles of the current and next programmes on different channels. The information is only available from the network to which the channel you are watching belongs. You can see the channel list in the left side and programme schedule for selected channel will be displayed in the right side. The time will be displayed relating to the programme schedule. Channels not suitable for kids may be blocked with a PIN code. The receiver delivers the video signals in CVBS and RGB format. DSR 7500 Plus performs automatic switching between PAL and NTSC. The reception of SCPC and MCPC signals will really get you happy.

Symbolrates starting at the rate of 2.45ms/sec were processed easily during our tests. Pressing the info button on the remote control will display the satellite name, channel, date and time. Every time you change channel, you will receive programme information for a few second. The last channel watched is completely saved. The timer function allows you programme the timer with various ways. This function is one of the strong point of DSR 7500 Plus. The time reservation allows you to programme the various timer function. You can set the timer daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. If there is nothing interestingly to watch, DSR 7500 Plus provide you three different types of very exciting video games.

DSR 7500 Plus has been designed to meet the international standard. It’s a fast scanning receiver. You will find it user friendly.
