Truman X TREAM

Free to air satellite is a term used to describe satellite signals which you can legally receive without a subscription. An FTA receiver is a satellite receiver, which is equipped to receive unencrypted (Free to Air) satellite transmissions. Truman has designed a beautiful Free to Air digital satellite receiver for reception for free as well as CAS channels.

X Tream digital satellite receiver has laid out attractively. The front panel is situated behind the flap on the left side of the receiver. The current channel number is shown by the front panel display. There are four buttons on the front panel using for various functions of the receiver. The rear panel is very interesting. There are two scart connectors for TV and VCR, RS-232 serial interface for uploading new receiver software, RCA jacks, Loop out and a main power switch for turning on and off the receiver. The remote control is made well, but it has not an easy access to all the functions. The receiver supports DisEqC 1.0 and 1.2 protocols.

The X Tream comes preprogrammed with 4000 TV and Radio channels with worldwide updated 175 satellites. 21 additional satellites may be added easily. All the local oscillator frequencies for C-band and KU-band are preprogrammed. The two scart connectors and RCA jacks provide signals in CVBS and RGB format. The digital audio out put is missed. The receiver does not come with any CI slots or card readers slots.

After turning on the receiver for the first time, the correct language must be selected. English, French, German, Arabic, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish and Russian are the available choices. In the next set up, you will have to select the additional basic set up in the main menu. The automatic switching between PAL and NTSC occurs without any delay. S-video and YUV outputs for flat screen TV and projection systems are not available.

The automatic channel scan of the Truman X tream is some what slow. It took 4 minutes for 254 TV and 229 Radio channels. You may search for Auto, Network, Free and CAS channels. After the complete scanning and saving the channels, the receiver goes on the satellite search menu. Press the exit button here to go directly to the channel list. It is very clear and concise. The channel list is well modified regarding the users choices. If you need to bring some organization to the channel list, this can be done via the channel manager. Here channels can be renamed, deleted and sorted. Channels that are inappropriate for the kids can be locked out with a PIN code.

The info bar momentarily appears below the screen while changing from one channel to another. The Electronic Programme Guide shows informations about the current as well as upcoming programmes. This receiver is equipped a unique dual EPG system, which gives you easy way to programme information. Symbolrates starting at the rates of 2.45ms/sec were processed easily during our tests. SCPC and MCPC signals reception will really surprise you. Switching between channels on the same transponder required a little less than 1.5 seconds. This is not exactly fast and might take some of the fun out of channel surfing. The receiver is fully complaint with DVB-S and MPEG-2.

The video and audio quality is outstanding. The number of connectors on the rear panel leaves nothing to be desired. The Truman X Tream is solid FTA receiver will advanced functions. If there is nothing to watch, don’t worry; the video games will give you better company.
