Test Report for BeauSAT 2006 Digital Satellite Receiver

BeauSAT 2006 Digital Satellite Receiver

The number of digital satellite receivers is increasing day by day due to the competition in satellite channels. The BeauSAT 2006 digital satellite receiver is one them. It is specially manufactured for the coming era of satellite zone. The hunters of satellite channels will really favour it.

The front panel of BeauSAT is very logically designed. It comes with four buttons for controlling the complete operation of the receiver. The window display is situated in the middle of the receiver, which shows the current channel number in a standby mode. There is no place for CI slots on the front panel. So, it is perfectly a free to air (FTA) digital satellite receiver.

The rear panel is equipped with satellite antenna connections, RS-232 for upgrading programme and software, video output, programmable 0/12 V, S/PDIF output for connection to a digital amplifier. Unfortunately, No TV and VCR scart connector was found on the rear panel. The remote control has very small and round buttons, having access to the complete functions. However, the remote control was not complete fast during our tests. It will be better to make it perfectly fast. The receiver is designed beautifully overall.

After connection of cables and turning on the receiver for the first time, the main menu will be displayed on your screen. The first thing is the language selection. The receiver can communicate in English, Arabic, French, Italian, Turkish, Persian, Spanish, Russian and German. You can operate the DiSEqC 1.0 in easy tuning section. The receiver comes preprogrammed with 4000 TV and radio channels and 50 update satellites from all over the world. The local oscillator frequencies (LOF) for C and Ku-band is easy job. The UHF modulator operates in all PAL norms and also in NTSC. Both 4:3 and 16:9 picture formats are supported.

The installation begins like with every receiver with the selection of the desired satellites and the subsequent channel scan. We selected the Hotbird satellite and desired transponder using left / right pressing the OK key. 559 TV and 291 Radio channels were found in less than five minutes. You have also the option for searching / satellite, search TP, search network. Search 1 Satellite is used for one satellite, which has been selected from the satellite column. Search TP is used for searching channels in one TP, which has been selected from the TP column. Search network is for the network related to the TP. There is also manual PID entry for the more experienced users. This receiver supports DiSEqC 1.2 protocol, so it can be easily used with multifeed antennas. BeauSAT has an option of searching channels with convenient process as given here like FTA only, Not search TP only and sort by scramble. It you selected the sort by scramble, the receiver sorts the scrambled channels automatically. If you select not searched TP only, the receiver searches TP only, receiver searches channels in the TP which were not searched. Channels can be delete, move, rename, sorted and moved into one of the four favourite lists for easy recall later time. This receiver provides one of the most powerful channel managing functions in the world. This function not only allows you to watch channels but also do a lot of interesting and useful things. The receiver presents the best picture quality. The receiver delivers the video in RGB and CVBS formate. Automatic switching between SCPC and MCPC signals occurs without any delay. Symbolrates starting at the rate of 2.45ms/sec occurs effortlessly during our tests.

Every time you change channels, you will receive programme information for a few seconds. While watching the channel, you can sec the current channel information at anytime by pressing the info key of remote control. The Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) shows the titles and other information of the current and next programmes on different channels. The information is only available from the network to which the channel you are watching. Pressing the OK key of remote control brings the channels list. But when we press the SAT button of remote control, it also displayed the channel list. Channels not suitable for kids may be blocked through parental control function. If a phone call occurs during your favourite movie, press the pause button of remote control, receive a call, then again press the pause button ad watch a movie from there where it was lefted. The last channel memory function of the receiver should also be noted. There is also a Teletext decoder function.

The combination of an easy-to-use FTA receiver and an extremely fast scan receiver that can find even the smallest signal would make it an ideal family receiver. If there is nothing interesting to watch, the integrated video games will give you a good company and will never let you bore.
