SKYCOM SCM-7700 FTA Digital Satellite Receiver

We are living in digital world and every thing is changing so fast before we catch up with these changes. But with SKYCOM, you could update your daily life with new useful information and enjoyment. Today’s technology has changed so fast and many new items are coming to market everyday. SKYCOM had introduced SCM-7700, a free to air receiver with a motto “THE ONE in the digital world”. Let’s see what fun it has.

The front panel of the SCM-7700 only comes with 8 buttons for receiver operation. An easy to read four digit display shows either the current channel or the current mode. It has 4,000 TV and radio channels. It is fully MPEG-2 and DVB compliant. The front panel buttons are also used for programming too.
br> Considering the big size of the SCM-7700, the rear connector panel is very nicely equipped. The IF signal is looped through so that a second receiver can be connected. Video (RGB/VBS) and analog stereo audio outputs are available on two scart connectors. Excellent audio for the Dolby Digital system is provided by the optical S/PDIF output. The RS-232 interface serves to upload new receiver software. The remote control has a number of different colored buttons for critical functions and is logically designed. For multi-feed antennas, there is even a programmable 0/12 volt output (RCA).

After connecting the SCM-7700 to all of the external peripherals and then plugging it in, it greets you with the installation menu. It has 10 languages OSD menu with colorful user friendly GUI. The receiver comes preprogrammed with numerous satellites from around the world. Additional satellites can be added if needed. There are no problems when selecting the required local oscillator frequency (LoF). All of the standard values for the C-band and the Ku-band are provide and if an usual value is needed, it can be manually entered. The satellites are sorted neither alphabetically nor by orbital position. Additional parameters such as motor settings, DiSEqC, FTA and 0/12 volt can be manually changed. The channels can be moved into favorites lists and can be sorted, renamed deleted or blocked via the integrated parental control in order to keep the kids away from adult channels.

Quite surprising is the ability to handle SCPC and MCPC signals. Symbol rates started at 1.45 Ms/sec can be easily processed. Channel surfing is quite fast. A push of the info button provides data on the channel’s provider, satellite, frequency, PID’s, encryption mode, EPG and parental lock in an on-screen display. The Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) delivers information about the current and upcoming programmes. The receiver supports DiSEqC 1.2, friendly OSD in your language with help sentence. The user is clearly guided through all the menus with manual A push of the OK button brings up the sorted channel list. The current channel continues to run in a picture-in-picture window. If the description for a program is too long, the text slowly scrolls through from beginning to end. A built-in teletext decoder helps display this service on monitors or TV’s that don’t have their own TT decoder. And if there is nothing interesting to watch on TV, you could always opt to play one of the built in video games.

The SCM-7700 is very successfully designed. It offers fast channel scan, outstanding audio (S/PDiF) and brilliant video. The installation and operation process is very easy. Locating new satellites is made very easy. The receiver is based on window 95/98/2000 and is able to download and upload. Switching between PAL and NTSC guarantee its worldwide use.
